As transgender jobseekers, we want a job that pays the bills. Good benefits that include hormones would be nice. And we want room to grow and realize our full potential as employees and as human beings.
Finding a good job in the Bay Area is hard enough, even without the additional challenges our community faces. That’s why we created the Transgender Economic Empowerment Initiative (TEEI). TEEI is the nation’s first program designed to help us find – and keep – good jobs.
TEEI Partners Include: • San Francisco LGBT Community Center (The Center) • San Francisco Transgender Empowerment, Advocacy, and Mentorship (SF TEAM) • Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) • Transgender Law Center (TLC)
We have helped transgender community members find jobs in safe, exciting workplaces such as Macy’s, Bloomingdales, UCSF, Bank of America, Good Vibrations, Frameline, and Trader Joe’s to name a few.
If you’re serious about finding a job, then we’re serious about helping. If you’re not sure what you’re qualified for, we can guide you to career paths that match your skills and interests. If your resume is out of date, we can help you whip it into shape. If you’re dreading that first interview, we can help you practice tough questions. And when you do get that job, we’ll be there to help you navigate any bumps in the road as you settle into your new position.
We’re excited to be part of this first-in-the-nation program. Each agency brings its own specific strengths to this historic partnership.

“So much of a person's identity and self-esteem is wrapped up in their career that the transgender community won't begin to exerience real social change until the workplace is safe for transgender people” —JoAnne Keatley, Co–Chair, SFTEAM
