TEEI Job Search Planning

January 7th, 2010, 3PM - 4:30PM

At the LGBT Center, 1800 Market Street @ Octavia Blvd.

Job searching is a job in itself! To get the job that's perfect for you, you don't only need to know how to do the job. You also need to know how to get the job. This workshop reviews a variety of job search strategies, including ways to stay organized and motivated in the job search. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a practical action plan to get started in your job search.

This workshop is required for all new job seekers interested in beginning 1-on-1 job search support with TEEI, and is a perfect way to find out if the program is right for you, get connected with an Employment Specialist, and get off to a good start on your job search.  This workshop reoccurs every first Thursday of the month.

TLC Housing Rights Workshop

At TRANS: THRIVE, 815 Hyde St. @ Sutter St.

An attorney from the Transgender Law Center will explain how the law protects transgender and gender-nonconforming people in housing, and lead a discussion on housing rights including how to address discrimination and harassment. Bring your questions, and bring a friend! (Allies to the community are more than welcome.)

This workshop is ideal for:

• Transgender & gender-nonconforming people who want to understand their rights under CA law
• Service providers who want to learn more about housing rights for the trans community
• Anyone who wants to be an informed ally to trans community members

Transcending Shopping Trip with Antonia Russo & Clair Farley

Antonia Russo and Clair Farley host an educational trans social shopping extravaganza!  Experts will help you create a professional image for work and life. Antonia Russo, Image Coach and Wardrobe Consultant, and Clair Farley, your trans friendly beauty expert will support you in creating a professional and positive image, and will showcase looks perfect for you. 

Shops included in the tour include Nordstrom's, Aveda, Macy's, and others. This is an educational and community building trip. Participants are not required buy anything.

We will have lunch during the trip. If you wish purchase food or additional items please bring your own funds.

The event will be held at the Westfield Mall San Francisco, 865 Market St. San Francisco CA 94103. Meet at 10:30 AM, Sharp! At the Bloomingdale’s entrance on the basement level near the food court area. Job seekers involved with TEEI can participate for free! Learn how to showcase your skills in resumes, cover letters, and interviews. Using “accomplishment statements,” you can make your applications materials shine. Rather than just telling employers what you can do, convince them how successfully you have done it! Discover and practice tricks that will catch the eyes and ears of employers and help you stand out as the stellar candidate you are.
